10.8.3 Upgrade for Hackintosh

As some of the experienced ‘Hackintoshers’ know upgrading can seriously screw things up, Personally I like to know that im on the latest. For that reason I will Backup to Time Machine frequently so if something does mess up I can use my backup partition to reinstall my Main OS however with my machine being so Hackintosh friendly I know that 85% of the time I can upgrade without a massive issue, Here is a video regarding how I got on:

Microsoft FSX – Windows 7 and Vista Fatal Error Possible Fix

Hello there ladies and gentlemen.

I have found a small file thanks to Alan from the Virgin Virtual Airline on Star Alliance. You can actually stop crashes completley in some case with this small file called UIAutomationCore.dll I have had this installed for a couple of months now and haven’t had a crash since. It has been a great help and works instantly.

Now don’t threat it is not hard to install at all in fact there is only one file required and it goes in your main FSX Directory.

For most people this will be located in the following place:

32-Bit: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\

64-Bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\

Or if you have stored it anywhere else make sure you know where. Once you have navigated to the right place you can then download the DLL file:

UIAutomationCore.dll

Then simply copy this file from your downloads folder to the FSX Directory that you already have open. Ensure that FSX is closed. It will not request permission to run but i can asure you that it is running so don’t worry. Please tweet me on Twitter @AdamDuce

How can this help me?!

The menu bar within Flight Simulator X was not designed around the protection of Windows Vista and 7 as some of you know with the User Account Control System the FSX Menu bar and right click menu seems to have a bug in Windows Vista and 7 because of this however the UIAutomationCore.dll file will help the computer to overcome the issues that it has with these menus in Windows Vista and 7.

Pocket Planes for Mac

Very cool free Mario Style Graphics Strategy game.

I have been playing this game as of recently and it has been an absolute blast! You are put in charge of an airline which has to start from the real beginning with Propeller Aircraft right upto the Boeing 747 style aircraft. The game is very long and is NOT easy to complete, You need to have the patience to really get into the game. It was originally made within the iOS Platform but was ported over to the Mac App Store. The application has been running on my system for the last day and I am now level 6 it has been a great experience.

100% Recommended Download if your interested in the airline world!

Google’s Anti-Piracy act prompts ‘file sharers’ reply

Two file-sharing websites have suggested that Google’s decision to demote in its search results websites linked to copyright-infringement complaints would not harm them.

The Pirate Bay and Isohunt said the move would only encourage users to search for material directly through their pages.

The two services added that Google was not their main source of traffic.

Google made the change after complaints from the media industry.

It also confirmed to the BBC that YouTube videos would be subject to its new regime.

Isohunt’s owner had suggested that the Google-owned video clip site would be given preferential treatment because it was excluded from the firm’s Transparency Report list of sites in which it highlighted copyright removal requests.

But a spokeswoman for the search giant said: “This update applies to all websites including our own – YouTube, Blogger, etc.”

Despite this the move is unlikely to make much change to the rankings of Google’s services or other platforms dominated by user-generated content such as Facebook and Twitter, since copyright flagging is just one of many factors that will influence their placing.

Google added that material on YouTube which infringed copyright would be removed from the website completely “in accordance with the law” if it became aware of it.

Lower listings

The new search results are organised according to the number of factors, including the amount of “valid copyright removal notices” Google has received about individual sites.

Those with more notices are likely to appear lower down.

“That Google is putting our links lower is in a way a good thing for us. We’ll get more direct traffic when people don’t get the expected search result when using Google,” said The Pirate Bay in a blog post.

“The thing we don’t like with this is… they’re dictating terms.”

Gary Fung, owner of BitTorrent Isohunt, said that only 21% of its traffic came from Google.

“We have plenty of torrent links to non-copyright infringing content, and we’ll be adding 1.4 million more from the Internet Archive soon,” he wrote on an Isohunt forum.

Mr Fung also queried the validity of the removal notices which he claimed could be spammed.

Those wishing to protect their copyright on YouTube are encouraged to use a free tool called Content ID which digitally fingerprints their work and notifies them if it appears on the site, Google said.

The copyright holder can then decide whether to leave it, have the content taken down or make money from it by adding adverts

First Raspberry Pi computers to be delivered

A group of schoolchildren in Leeds are the first to get their hands on production models of the bare-bones computer.

Costing only £16, the tiny computer has been designed to inspire anyone, especially children, to get started with computer programming.

Eager fans who were the first to order a machine should get their Raspberry Pi by 20 April.

Since the Raspberry Pi project began, the plan has garnered huge interest from developers, hobbyists and others keen to get their hands on a cheap, easy-to-use computer.

Delivery of the first batch of production machines has been delayed twice – once because the wrong component was soldered on to circuit boards and a second time thanks to confusion about electromagnetic testing.

Apple releases tool to combat flashback malware

Apple has released a fresh Java update that it says removes the Flashback Trojan on infected Macintosh computers.

The malware installs itself if a user visits a malicious website, exposing the computer to control by hackers.

The update’s release comes two days after Apple said it was tackling the issue, and a week after an anti-virus firm warned 600,000 Macs were infected.

Another security firm, Kaspersky, has recalled its own Trojan-removal tool after it affected some user settings.

The company said its tool was removing settings on the computers it was being installed on, and promised to offer a replacement shortly.

AMD Hackintosh and the Magic Mouse

So, I have a Magic Mouse and i wanted to use it on my AMD Hackintosh I had 6GB of RAM and to utilize all that RAM in Mac I had to  boot with -force64 This enables all of the RAM that a 64bit OS can utilize it. But with the Magic Mouse this will interfere with the Preference Panel and cause it to crash. The fix is to boot without your all of your RAM utilized (arch=i386) without -force64 or you can us this free piece of Software called MagicPrefs which basically is the same that doesn’t seem to contain the bug but is totally 3rd party and has some totally cooler functions with the Magic Mouse. Thanks for reading hope this helps!
